Commitment to accessibility

Manatū Wāhine is committed to ensuring this website is accessible to everyone, including disabled people.

We aim to meet the requirements of the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard and conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We are committed to continuously improving our Content Web Accessibility Compliance (CWAC) and maintaining a high standard of accessibility across our website.

These standards support access for people using a wide range of technologies, including assistive tools such as screenreaders, screen magnifiers and speech-recognition software.

Accessibility is an ongoing priority. We regularly review, test and improve this website to enhance usability and remove barriers.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the New Zealand Government Web Accessibility Standard due to the limitations described below.

Known issues and limitations

We are aware that some areas of the website are not yet fully accessible, including:

  • Some older PDF documents that may not meet accessibility requirements
  • Some third-party content or embedded tools that we do not fully control

We are actively working to improve these areas and reduce barriers over time.

Browsers, devices and compatibility

This website is designed to work with modern browsers and assistive technologies. It is optimised for the latest versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. The website is responsive and supports use across mobile phones, tablets, laptops and desktop computers.

Content formats

Where possible, we provide content in HTML format, which is more accessible and easier to navigate.

Some content, including reports and publications, is available as PDF. While we aim for accessibility, not all PDFs fully meet standards.

If you cannot access content or need it in another format (such as HTML, Microsoft Word or a printed copy) we will provide an alternative where reasonably practicable. Email communications@women.govt.nz
