About the speaker
Dr Yvonne Crichton-Hill is an Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury and a leading voice in Pacific social work, blending over 16 years of frontline practice with extensive academic research. Her work focuses on family violence prevention, child advocacy, and developing culturally responsive systems for Pacific communities, earning her key roles on the boards of Barnardo’s, Pacific Trust Canterbury, Tangata Atumotu Trust, Pegasus Health Pacific Advisory Board and Tatou Collective.
She has contributed to the Ministerial Family Violence Taskforce and represents the Asia-Pacific region on the International Federation of Social Workers Ethics Commission. Beyond her domestic influence, Dr Crichton-Hill leads vital research into the intersections of climate change and Pacific wellbeing, ensuring indigenous perspectives remain at the heart of social protection policies.
